Started Off As an Apprentice Marine Fitter
From 1971 to 1975 after completing his NS as
a Sergeant. Completed Singapore Polytechnic
Course on the Ministry Of Transport, MOT Certificate of Competency as a sea going Marine Engineer. Started off as a Junior Engineer up to the Chief Engineer. By then, he had joined the White Star Line, Neptune Orient Lines, NOL, Timor Carrier, Pernas Shipping, PCL, Thome Shipping and Andhika Shipping. His Marine Engineer experience lasted 25 years till 2000. He joined Keppel FELS Offshore after that as Rig Commissioning Superintendent that ensures the Rig complies with international codes and standard such as ASME, AWS, API ANSI and ASTM.
This includes the Marine Classification Society Rules and Regulation such as American Bureau of Shipping, ABS, Lloyd Register of Shipping, LRS, Det Norske Veritas, DNV, and other International Regulatory bodies. Ensuring that the system being commissioned performed in compliance to standard, getting the system certified by qualified personnel, in his case the Classification Society Surveyor, are important in getting the Rig or submersible or FPSO meeting the delivery date on time. His close working relation with the surveyor for timely inspection and approval were important for the completion of the project. His works brought him to work in China, Houston, Texas, USA, Baku Azerbaijan; Oman Qatar: Norway
